For the reasons stated by the East Dakota Secession Movement, and for others, I hereby declare the right of peaceful citizens to revoke their consent to be governed by the state of Minnesota. I recognize the right of North-Western counties to secede from the state of Minnesota. I do not recognize the authority of tyrants, and I do not consent to be governed by them.

Minnesota lawmakers have failed in their duty to protect Minnesotans' private property rights.

If politicians, bureaucrats, and tyrants refuse to recognize and defend our inherent, inalienable rights, then we refuse to recognize their authority over us, and the authority of the state of Minnesota. We the people, the citizens of the 13 counties of the East Dakota Secession Movement, declare our intent to legally, and formally seek secession from the formerly great state of Minnesota, and to form a new state in which individual and natural rights will be respected.

The road to liberty is an uphill battle.

The urgency of secession is matched in level only by the arduousness of it, yet overcoming adversity is the very nature of the American spirit.

"Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask.
Act! Action will delineate and define you."

Thomas Jefferson

Secession is the life-blood of America.

This nation was founded upon an act of secession when the 13 original colonies declared their independence from an overbearing and tyrannical Great Britain. Although the legal hurdles for us are extreme and daunting, there are many paths forward unto liberty. While it would be far easier for us to simply bury our heads in the sand, Plato once said, "One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." Will you allow this charade to continue?

It is our duty to stand against tyranny.

The right of the people to revolt was famously articulated in the Declaration of Independence, which declared that “whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends [life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.” The time to stand up against these maniacal forces is long overdue; no longer can we stand idly by while the central authorities of Minnesota trample on our constitutional rights.

Stand and be counted. Liberty calls!
